Our universe may in fact be one of perhaps an infinite number of other universes in a greater realm often referred to as the Multi-verse. One idea explaining the birth of our universe is that a random quantum fluctuation happened to get a bit out of hand, inflated, creating space-time, matter, and of course ourselves.
