Gum Bichromate Prints are a beautiful
alternative to today's fast paced methods of making photographs. Invented roughly
in the 1850s, and gaining popularity among early photographers at the
turn of the 20th century because of it's colors and texture similar to that of paintings or drawings, the gum bichromate
process helped to establish photography as a true art.
Essentially, the Gum Bichromate Photography process involves the photographic exposure and
development of multiple layers of sensitized watercolor paint on paper.
The galleries
to the right are my gum bichromate prints, from the first print I made to the latest. Each photograph is organized by the
year in which it was printed.
