For a multitude of reasons, I haven't been able to dedicate much time to the website over the past several months (let alone get my laundry done!). Finally I found some time to upload a few new gum prints. You can see them here.

My Epson printer (which I have used for years to make inkjet negatives) sadly died a few months ago. I had another Cannon inkjet printer lying around which works wonderful for every purpose other than printing inkjet negatives. The cannon ink is too thin and causes grain patterns in the highlights of my prints. Sad. Then my scanner died. Sadder! My whole workflow has been disturbed! I have been hesitant to print some images until I find a better printer, but that priority falls down the list for now. I guess we all have our slow years!

Other News:

I have not been Printing Since October due to total lack of money! Fourtunatley, I have finally started a good job this month as an Art Instructor for Monart School of the Art in Keller, Texas. Now that the money has once again begun to flow, I can resume printing Gums and work on my Gum Bichromate Book!

New Uploads: Gum Prints and Panoramas

Upcoming and Current Shows

On Friday November 2, 2007, I will have a few prints to show as part of the Dragon Street Art Walk in Dallas along with the members of Association ARTS. Work will be on display one night only at Pittet Co. located near downtown dallas in the design district. There will be food, music, art, and of course the artists! see map

During October, a few new prints are on Display at the UNT Medical Science Center in Downtown Fort Worth, Texas. They are located in the 1st floor of the Lobby on the south side of the complex, directly across the street from the Amon Carter Museum in the corner of Montgomery Street and Camp Bowie Blvd. If you find yourself in Ft. Worth with some time to spare, swing by and check them out! see map

One print is on Display in Keller City Hall, thanks to the YAT Gallery as part of the Brushes to Bronze exhibit. There are some amazing bronze sculptures to check out first, and eventually you'll find my print upstairs with the other YAT artists. Gum Bichromate Photography Book Update:

I am still working on my book mentioned earlier this year. Slowly but surely it is coming together. So much else has been going on I have had trouble finding the time to give it 100%, and regrettably had to push its release back into perhaps the Spring of 2008. Sad news to some of you, but we gum printers must be patient people after all!

Gum Bichromate Photography Book!

Due to worldwide interest in my Gum bichromate photography, I am currently working on a book which will hopefully be completed and available by fall 2007! The book will cover methods, the thinking, and processes to develop one's gum bichromate photography skills.

The book will be for both first time gum printers and experienced gummists, first covering basic gum printing techniques, and then more advanced strategies. Topics covered will include those on this website under the Tutorials, and many more topics will be addressed in further detail. All descriptions will be illustrated by color images of the steps involved and scans of prints during the various printing stages. The book will include plenty of examples of my own gum bichromate prints on nearly every page.

It is designed in a textbook style, with much of the book following my decision making process while using various techniques to create several gum prints. Rather then a collection of written instruction and formula, the book will be geared toward the visual learner.

I intend the book to mainly be a source of inspiration and guide for everyone interested in gum bichromate printing.
